Tomorrow we head into the studio first thing in the morning. Cody Braun and David Abeyta are the producers again. This should be a pretty interesting experience. We made some pretty big changes to quite a few of the songs we are recording in the last couple days, at least compared to the way we have been doing them live. (Those of you that heard some of these live before might recognize the songs, but, I guess they are a bit shook up since the last time we played them.) I am looking forward to getting into the studio and getting something accomplished. I (bass) am usually the first one to finish tracking, I guess it is always nice for me, as I get quite a few days off while everyone else polishes up there parts. (not to say that I am any better, bass and drum tracks are always done first, that’s all!:)
I should say that I welcome back baseball season wholeheartedly! I don’t know if any of you know, but most of us Idaho boys are all pretty big baseball fans. George W. threw out the first pitch at the Nationals-Braves game, and it was quite a bit high and outside. Obviously it would have been a ball. He just can’t seem to get things quite right, to say the least!:)
I am looking forward to watching my dismal San Francisco Giants open up against the marginal Los Angeles Dodgers, who just so happen to be Gary, Micky, and my brother’s favorite team. This makes for quite a rivalry amongst us. I can’t wait to see if Barry Zito can throw a fastball slower than Tim Wakefield’s knuckleball. At least he has the arcing grapefruit curveball at his expense to make sure his E.R.A. stays in the 10.00 plus range…..that is, if the low 80’s “heater” doesn’t do that trick for him. (insert sarcasm)

Today I write to you all from the Frontier Airlines terminal at Denver International Airport. I should have looked a little closer when I booked my ticket. I didn’t realize I would be sitting here for three hours. At least there are some decent bars in this airport where I can enjoy some ballpark price beers. (I think I have been to all of them, except for Concourse C-never had a reason to go there.) Everyone else made it back to Austin well before me. I suppose they were in a rush to get some down time. Not that there will be any down time. The next two days will be spent rehearsing. I think that I can speak for everyone when I say that it is the most necessary but the least enjoyed thing that we do. Well, my first ever flight on Frontier might mean my last ever flight on United. I never knew that there would be a difference, but it sure is nice to watch your own PTV and not have to listen to all of the screaming children! Mark

It’s another glorious day and another long drive in Idaho. It seems that all things have become long ordeals when we come to Idaho. We are headed to Moscow right now. (No, not the Russian one, either.) Moscow is also the alma mater of our one and only Ryan Robertson road manager extraordinaire. (The University of Idaho) It’s also the last day of playing shows in Idaho until we head to Montana-not that that is really much different than Idaho. (I’m sure that there are many Montanans and Idahoans that would disagree with that!) We have another week or so left of this tour, and then it is back to Austin for us all. Unfortunately, at least for the rest of the band, it is a straight deadhead drive back from Bozeman, MT. I, luckily, will be flying out of Boise, ID next week instead. How lucky for me!?!?!?!?!? I don’t think that the rest of the guys are nearly as happy about that as I am! After we are all back in Austin, it will be straight to the studio. (other than our shows.) Some of you may have noticed a handful of new songs at our shows. We are pushing for a release date sometime in late July. Stay tuned….. Well so much for glorious day, the weather is a little different in McCall than it was in Boise. (yes, it took me this long to right this….. mostly because I am halfway brain dead after St. Patty’s day, and there is way too much to see while driving-I mean riding-down Idaho 55. I forgot it was still winter up here….and then I check the weather in Austin and it says that it has been in the 80’s. What a difference a couple thousand miles makes. And yes, there is still a lot of snow here. Until next time, Mark
